Whenever I’m out with Jasmine, I always get inquiries about her eye. Generally, the inquiry goes, “Does your dog have a blind eye?” I shake my head and say, “No, she has one blue eye and one brown eye.” A woman responded today, “Oh, just like David Bowie!”
Her blue eye actually has a technical term–it’s called a Walleye. A Walleye is “A blue- or pearl- colored eye caused by a whitening of the iris.” In Jasmine’s case, her iris is not only a beautiful blue but the sclera around the iris is also a pearly bluish white. She also has a fleck of blue in her brown eye.
This Walleye is a major breed “fault” in all dachshunds except her coloring–dapple. Her beautiful silver dapple markings make her more unique and pretty. I love her coloring, and because of her unusual features, she attracts a lot of attention wherever she goes. Well, it’s not only her unusual coloring and bright blue eye. She’s just so darn cute that people can’t help but smile.
Of course, I’m a bit biased. Um…no…she’s just darn cute.

I know this is sort of besides the point of your post…
But yay for cute puppy pictures!!
She’s downright gorgeous is what she is!
Joey and Maggie….
Jasmine is adorable. We have had serveral dapples that were rescued by DROH in our program amd we have serveral now.
One of my best friends has a silver dapple and he is the sweetest little fella but a little standoffish when she started fostering hum until he got used to his two dachsie brotherd–a standard red and a piebald. She hope you decide to adopt another dachshund for Jasmine becuase there are many dache rescue groups like DROH that have some very wonderful dogs available for adoption.
Yes Mona does sleep with me and she has her favorite spots.
When I had four of my own dachshies and one or more fosters it was a tight squeeze but 2 was no problem.

Interesting, thanks for explaining her pretty blue eye. I learned something new tonight. She’s been taking some cute pictures too.
